the fourth of july

thrifted jacket, express sheer t, f21 skirt, sophie&max suede fringe studded sandals, vintage bag, wal-mart necklace

Another American holiday that means little of nothing to me. My ancestry did not gain their independence until almost the end of the nineteenth century, but i digress...

Love the little shoulders on this jacket that I thrifted not too long ago. But yesterday was a special day for me. I found my first vintage designer piece (the christian dior polyester boxers i found a year ago don't count). It's a DIANE VON FURSTENBERG vest!! I will be posting it in an outfit soon. Love~

you people should care about july 4th tons of people die for us to live the way we do today
China where they can't even vote, you should be grateful instead of dwelling on the past.
Black people need acknowledge the past and how far we've come and move forward instead of continuing to be bitter about the past

*sigh* with the "you people" and how "black people need to..." (because we ALL do and think the same things, right *eye roll*). If the past is the past, why are you bringing up vets from the revolutionary war? What's good for the goose is good for the gander, but EYE digress...

Feel however you feel, Tip and don't apologize for it.

You look adorable. Great vintage find, lovie.

I am not at all bitter about the past, and I never "play the race card" as some may call it. This is just how I feel about the significance of this holiday to me, myself and I, and that is that. I have the right to feel that way and if you don't like it, please please feel free to never come to this blog again!

oh and if i was in fact "bitter about the past", why should not one be, when in fact these historical holidays glorify past events...

wow just wow everyones intitled to their own opinion thats what americas all about. I don't really celebrate the 4th either but I think its an important holiday I have so many friends fighting in Iraq right now I think its important to acknowledge those people and past soldiers. But any way back to the reason I came here The FASHION I can't wait to see that DVF vest the print looks cute, great skirt to.

wow....I was so ready to defend the whole topic, but I see you handled yourself fairly well!! lol....WOW....the fact that the dislike or insignificance of the holiday has to be connected to "black people" is rediculous...That's like stating you hate Christmas & everyone automatically asumes you're anti-Christianity...pointless assumptions that didn't even deserve a response, but we all chose to grace the ignorance anyhow!! ;) lol...

GREAT OUTFIT...afterall that's what the post was about!! ;-p

WTF um I think Ima pay a visit to "crispytacos" blog. Lawd.

I really need people to spend a year in the south, but I won't get too deep into that whole thing cause you shut it down quite nicely =)

Love the outfit, as usual. Great post.
